Why does the drive kill most students?
A flight school lives at one airport. If it is on the wrong side of the metroplex, a 1.5 hour lesson becomes a 3 hour errand, twice a week, in DFW traffic. Not money, not fear, not aptitude. The drive.

Which DFW airports does Settle Aviation fly out of?
Settle Aviation flies mainly out of two home fields on the north side of Fort Worth: Hicks Airfield (T67), north of Fort Worth off Highway 287, and Northwest Regional Airport (52F) in Roanoke. A Van's RV-12 is based at each one, so that is where most training happens, and both are an easy drive from north Fort Worth, Saginaw, Keller, Trophy Club, Southlake, Argyle and Flower Mound. Other fields are available by arrangement: Dallas Executive (KRBD) in south Dallas, Arlington, Denton, Addison, McKinney or Mesquite, when there is an airplane for us to fly there, usually yours or one you already rent. Instruction is priced the same at every field. Tell me where you live or work and I will tell you which airport makes the most sense.
Does it cost more to meet at my airport?
No. Instruction is 75 dollars per hour for flight time and 50 dollars per hour for ground at every airport on the list, with no travel surcharge for meeting you somewhere different. The airplane is the same price wherever we fly it: 165 dollars an hour wet, with fuel included, in any of the Rotax trainers, and 415 dollars an hour wet in the Tecnam twin used for multi-engine training. If you own or already rent an aircraft, you pay only for instruction. There are no packages, no deposits, and no minimum commitments at any location. You pay for the hours you actually use, billed the same way at every field, and one hour of dual in an RV-12 comes to 240 dollars all in. Every tail, with its panel and photos, is on the fleet page.
What if my airport is not on the list?
Ask. Hicks and Roanoke are home, and the other fields listed are ones I already know, but none of it is a hard boundary. The Dallas Fort Worth area has well over a dozen general aviation fields, and adding one is usually a matter of getting familiar with the field, its traffic pattern, and its FBO before your first lesson. Aircraft access is the real constraint, not distance. If there is a flying club or rental line at your field, or you own or already rent an airplane based there, it is almost always workable. If your field has no rental aircraft available, we would either fly yours or meet at the nearest airport that does. Call or text and tell me which airport you are thinking of, and I will tell you honestly whether it works or whether somewhere close by serves you better.
